Tiadaghton State Forest
WILLIAMSPORT, PA
Tiadaghton State Forest is approximately 147,000 acres. Fish, hunt, hike, bike, or enjoy floating or kayaking in Pine Creek, the largest tributary of the West Branch of the Susquehanna River, which flows through the forest. 100 miles of groomed snowmobile trails. The Black Forest Trail is a 42.1 mile loop trail in the northwest corner of Lycoming County near the village of Slate Run. This rugged trail has many vistas. This forest offers some of the richest and most varied hiking in the state, including the Pine Creek Rail Trail, the Golden Eagle Trail, the Black Forest Trail, a portion of the Mid State Trail, and the Bob Webber Trail. Primitive campers spending no more than one night at a campsite typically do not need a camping permit, with certain exceptions. Primitive camping is carry in, carry out. Trails not designated as State Forest Hiking Trails are open to mountain biking and horseback riding.
